Rocky Balboa – Definition of Winning!

Posted on Posted in Dialogues

” Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you’re hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” – courtesy, IMDB

I have always been an eternal fan of this dialogue, it summarizes the definition of winning and failures in one single go. Kinda like when Winston Churchill defines success

“Success is moving from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm”

No Matter what I write here, nothing is ever going to be half as powerful as the statement above but I must agree to the one truth here, there is never a person without a failure, if there is, I would certainly say he has not challenged himself enough making him the biggest loser that ever was.

It is good to be hurt, it is good to be on our knees but the truth beyond all of it is that we can get up, we can take the hits, it is all about acknowledging the change and keep moving ahead. The moment we stop, that’s when we die, not physically but emotionally yes. Struggle is the greatest sign of life and how fast we are willing to do that defines the bigger words either success or failure or winning!

    1. That’s a very profound thought Indu. I think you are absolutely right!

Sometimes I feel that at a particular point we are living someone else’s thought of a dream, maybe the society, parents or friends or any bit!

The frustration of many. I love the way you have put it Indu 🙂

  1. love the way you use movies to get across your point. A movie buff myself…was drawn to read your posts because of the movie titles…nice idea 🙂 all the best.

    1. Thank you Preethi :). It feels great to hear such supportive words. Humbled 🙂 .

I am a movie buff too, for a long time I was very inclined to write the movie reviews.. Do let me know if there is any movie dialogues which you think might fit well with the theme here, would be more than happy to make a writing on a few of those 🙂

We would love to hear your point of view
