Where Your Fear is, There is your Task – Carl Jung

Where your fear is there is your task: Fear is powerful. It can either debilitate us completely and sometimes even paralyse us. But the beauty of fear is that even though it’s got that capability, it can vanish into thin air. Even more beautiful is the point that you and I can do this by refocusing our energies and listening, leaning into what this fear is telling us.

Fear has no personal presence. It doesn’t care who you are, nor does it recognise your ego. It only tells you that something can go wrong and have a lasting impact on your life. It tells you that something important might be in jeopardy and you need to do something about it. It is a very clear call for action which is often misunderstood by so many of us.

Where your fear is there is your task

Fear is not a pointless emotion. It is one of the most powerful emotional responses we get akin to anger. Fear tells us that something is not right, it warns us about a situation or circumstance that needs resolution. Sometimes it even indicates what’s most important to us. For such a strong, beautiful emotion to be cast away as weak or something to be afraid of is a mistake.

Where your fear is, there is your task – Carl Jung Quotes

Instead, as the quote by Carl Jung says -where your fear is, there is your task. Fear is asking you to stop and something about it. Most times, we are told to ignore the fear and postpone it with the hope that it goes away. We all know that any suppressed emotion comes back to bite us and it is never a fun experience. The results are far worse than if we’d addressed it right at the start. The same is true for fear also. Fear is an emotion that conveys something to us. In this case, it is drawing our attention to something that needs work.
