Have you ever felt like everything has to be perfect before you can take action on your goals and dreams? The truth is, the stars will never align, and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. Waiting for the perfect conditions to take action is a recipe for failure. In this article, we will explore why waiting for the perfect moment is a mistake and how taking action and correcting course along the way is the key to success.
The stars will never align, and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. The universe doesn’t conspire against you, but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up the pins either. Conditions are never perfect. ‘Someday’ is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it ‘eventually,’ just do it and correct course along the way.
— Tim Ferriss, author of The 4-Hour Work Week
The stars will never align, and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time
If you wait for the perfect moment to start something, it will never happen. This is called paralysis by analysis! We analyse so much that we don’t know what to do. Not only will this fill us with loads of data but will cripple us from taking decisions. If you need to take a decision, make sure to have limited variables. With this, you can take quick decisions. You can’t wait forever to take a decision because you still have to work on your situation for the desired outcome. Instead, just get to work – there will never be the perfect condition for things to start

The universe doesn’t conspire against you, but it doesn’t go out of its way to line up the pins either
The universe doesn’t care about us as much. I know the lovely dialogue from The Alchemist which says if you want something badly, the entire universe conspires to make it happen. The reality is often otherwise – the universe doesn’t care much about us. In fact, we are too small for the universe and infact even the world. But what we can do is to try and do our best for the universe. This is the only thing that we can control and contribute. The universe is not trying to mess with you. You are on your own and you must do everything for yourself. The timing will never be perfect.
Conditions are never perfect
And this is the last segment – the conditions will never be perfect. But we have to make the best of the situation that we’ve got. This is the only thing we have right? We ought to take control and decide what to do about life. Or else life will just pass by and we keep wondering what happened. The best thing to do is take control and do something about it. The act of doing something will help us think, engage our brains and get us to a better place.
You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great
In conclusion, waiting for the perfect moment is a mistake. The stars will never align, and the traffic lights of life will never all be green at the same time. Instead of waiting, we should take action and correct course along the way. Pro and con lists can be helpful, but they can also be a trap. ‘Someday’ is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. The power of taking action is that it leads to progress and growth, and it’s the key to achieving success.
