About Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is one of the finest moviemakers in the world today. There are hardly a few people or I can say only a few people who dislike his movies. The maker of Schindler’s List, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Catch Me If You Can…showed us a different set of Hollywood movies we never saw earlier. He is also called the pioneer of the New Era of Hollywood. He has been 40 years in the movie industry giving great movies one after the other. Steven Spielberg life story is an inspiration for many of us.

Steven Spielberg quotes of Inspiration
Below is a selection of 5 inspirational quotes from Steven Spielberg. These quotes represent his aspirations, the energy we can derive from his creativity, challenging the status quo and the belief in your own ideas. Perhaps that’s the biggest takeaway for me from these quotes.
I don’t dream at night, I dream at day, I dream all day; I’m dreaming for living
I love this quote – Dreams and night are somehow closely interlinked in all literature we see. But we ought to stop and question – how true is that? Isn’t dream that itch which you constantly keep thinking about? It is almost like a call at the back of your head which you cannot ignore. This quote is similar to Abdul Kalam’s – Dreams are not those which come to us while sleeping.
Yet, we can all relate to some of our experiences of burying these dreams. The common reasons we give are
- It is impractical or impossible
- I don’t have enough time or resources
- It is not meant to be for me
Of course, these are all reasons. Nothing is unjustified, but the question to ask is – what is more important to you? Is it the reason or the results?
I don’t dream at night, I dream at day, I dream all day; I’m dreaming for living

All good ideas start out as bad ideas, that’s why it takes so long
Remember when Steve Jobs said – It often takes time to arrive at simple, sophisticated solutions. There seems to be an unreal expectation that all ideas have to be perfect. We put it in an unreasonable filter and try to match it with our expectations.
But ideas don’t work like that. They need their own time to mature and develop. Sometimes, these ideas expect you to jump in and start working. There will be times when you discover that some ideas are not good and need to evolve. Some may even need to be eliminated.
We can classify all ideas as bad very easily. However, do keep an eye out for the ideas that keep coming to you. It is usually a sign that you’re missing something. I’m sure none of us can afford to act on every single idea we get. But those repetitive ideas are a clear emotional signal that the mind is telling you to notice it intently.
All good ideas start out as bad ideas, that’s why it takes so long

I’m not really interested in making money. That’s always come as the result of success, but it’s not been my goal, and I’ve had a tough time proving that to people
This is a powerful addition to the Steven Spielberg quotes selection – our modern world is motivated by money. It takes an exceedingly important place in all our decisions. Having said that, money is a fickle thing, the more you go after it, the more evasive it becomes. (Related: Don’t run behind money – chase the vision, money will follow you)
At the same time, if you have value to add to this world, money has a way to follow you. This used to be one of the most common arguments in our business case discussions. What should we really be going after – quick money, break-even and growth or long-lasting solutions. I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. However, the key question to ask is – what do you want?
The only way you can make something is by creating value. And most often, if you add enough value, money will find a way to follow. It can be a very good byproduct, but never a leading cause. If however you’re worried too much about money, then your goals are too small and maybe they need to be revisited.
I’m not really interested in making money. That’s always come as the result of success, but it’s not been my goal, and I’ve had a tough time proving that to people

Whether in success or in failure, I’m proud of every single movie I’ve directed
This is probably my favourite quote in this collection of Steven Spielberg quotes. It is an awful philosophy to pin pride on to our results. I will go back to the basics of karma-yoga – our work is ours to own. Sometimes, results are unpredictable. They can either give you favourable or unfavourable outcomes.
I know that it doesn’t sound fair. Who in their right mind wants to lose right?
But then again, the effort is the only thing you have control on. I don’t mean it in any negative way, we should listen to feedback and aim to succeed. But surely, you cannot let your pride depend on your results. If you have worked on something, it only means that you’ve given your best at that point in time. It is true that you and I have grown beyond that and are different people now.
But the work that was done was at that point in time. It got your best efforts. You may find ways to soothe your ego and say that you could’ve done better to justify a failure. But no one really cares about justification. It is completely about you – the work matters and what you learnt from it matters. The quicker you and I can move away from this false circle of justifying results vs efforts, the better it is for us.
Whether in success or in failure, I’m proud of every single movie I’ve directed

The love we do not show here on earth is the only thing that hurts us in the after-life
I’m almost regretting not putting this quote into our inspiring love quotes collection. The last of the steven Spielberg quotes collection is a message about love. Every opportunity for expression of love is a precious one. Sometimes, these things go unsaid because we either wait for the perfect moment or are lost in some other distraction.
But these moments are precious and easily run away from us. If we don’t use them to express or convey our love the best way we know – it easily turns into regret. And no one really benefits from any regrets. In fact, these things hurt more than love does. In the end, love is a positive emotion and a very powerful one. It can have repercussions that can create positive waves.
If you can recall any moments of unsaid love, please listen to yourself and express it. These moments are precious and will not come back again. The best sense is to make use of these moments to intensify your positive emotions and feelings instead of regret
The love we do not show here on earth is the only thing that hurts us in the after-life
