Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction: This quote by Naeem Callaway talks about taking small steps to make sure that you’re moving forward. Sometimes, it is difficult to find the motivation to take big steps. In some cases, our goals might be large which talks about taking small, measurable steps. But when you’re either down or overwhelmed by large goals – look within and think about the small things that you can do. As long as it is in the right direction, this motivates us to keep moving forward. Remember Confucius’ quote on – it doesn’t matter how slowly you move as long as you keep moving forward.

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction meaning

Once we know our direction which is determined by our values, the next step is about doing something about it. Unless we’re able to break down our large values or dreams into smaller goals – we won’t be able to find out if we’re succeeding or not. In the long run, these large goals make it difficult to keep track and even be motivated to move forward in life.

Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.

The meaning of sometimes the smallest step in the right direction is simply about taking small actions. You can’t solve all problems at once. As long as you are progressing and moving forward, it is incremental. These small changes will take you closer to the goal because, with time, these efforts compound making your problems/aspirations smaller. i.e

This approach tends to fight the concept of progress vs perfection. These small steps help you build momentum, and start creating opportunities for the outcome you want. If you do nothing, then things don’t stagnate, they get worse. The quote is a constant reminder that our results are in our actions. And the best way is to start and progress with small, incremental steps.

Yeah Vinay and its the first step which is the toughest too …in all situations in including this Nepal one. Thanks for the Flipkart option I was not aware about it ..

He he.. I had thought that the repetition was only in the first line.. Looks like I have repeated the entire paragraph :D.. I have now made that change :)..

The Nepal earthquake is really a very poignant thing, it makes me go completely numb. I mean how can someone even face a calamity like that.

Thank you Shweta.. I think we all have that moral compass within us and it really feels good to respond to that.. But whatever I do, I know that it is so small and the difference it is going to make to the nepal quake victims is minimal to say the least..

  4. Such situation, I think, have been faced by all of us. Sometimes, a small step is really all we need to make it big. As for the Nepal disaster, I’ve made a small donation through Facebook. It was fast and easy.

P.S. Vinay, there is a repetition of the first stanza in this post. Please look into it.

I guess the moral conflicts are common for us all. Good to know that I am not the only one in the boat :D :). I kept wondering, I mean it is such a huge thing, how can people even think of reacting to something like that. Something of that huge magnitude?! Phew.. :(

      1. Really… :-( but some people are like that only…

And, you’re welcome. Typos are commonest thing…
