Run Forrest Run Quote, Meaning and Inspiration

Run Forrest Run quote: This is one of the most powerful quotes from the movie. I still remember this scene as it was yesterday. When Forrest Gump runs, he breaks the shackles of limitations, expectations and even finds a path or motivation of his own. The picturisation is probably one of the best I’ve seen in movies. It creates a warm sense of excitement as he breaks his confines, starts running. It is a moment of realisation about what our beliefs can do – both in limiting us and pushing us forward beyond these limiting beliefs.

Run Forrest Run Quote

This is the most inspirational scene from the movie, Forrest Gump. I’d highly recommend watching it if you haven’t already. This scene in particular explains how he started running from being a boy who was a polio victim. I like how it is delivered too – it is not about making a huge motivational speech. But the inspiration is just about the action and keep doing something.

“Run, Forrest! Run!” –Jenny Curran

“Listen, you promise me something, OK? Just if you’re ever in trouble, don’t be brave. You just run, OK? Just run away.” –Jenny Curran

Young Jenny, the only kid who actually likes Forrest, tells him “just run away, Forrest.” Yes, Forrest, you are wearing leg braces and can’t bend your knees. Just run away! So Forrest runs, prompted by Jenny: “Run, Forrest, run!”

“That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d run to the end of town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I’d just run across Greenbow county. And I figured, since I run this far, maybe I’d just run across the great state of Alabama. And that’s what I did. I ran clear across Alabama.” –Forrest Gump

Run forrest run quotes

That’s really why we need to look at our lives as a continuous exercise. It takes effort to reach our goals – no doubt. But there’s no point in doing things if you don’t enjoy them or aren’t able to put your heart into them.

Run forrest Run meaning

This quote has a powerful meaning for me because it talks about keeping our heads down and doing what we do. Although running away metaphorically means giving up, for me it is about finding the sense of joy and doing what we are good at. When you are running, it is all about the run. The same thing about following our dreams and passions. Sometimes things don’t work our way, but we must find motivation to carry on. This motivation is best found in the task itself.

The meaning of Run forrest run can be elaborated in the following key points:

  • Breaking the shackles – The society will tell you that you can’t do a lot of things. There maybe hundreds of limitations. However, they can’t be bigger than your dream or desires. Sometimes, you just have to silence these noises and focus on your dream. Break the shackles which hold you back.
  • Run Forrest Run – It is all about the run, it is all about the actions we take towards our desires. Dreams alone are meaningless if you don’t support them with actions. Dreams must transform into thoughts and then subsequently into actions. Ultimately it is these actions that give us the results we want.
  • Keep running: There is no stopping or looking back. When we are on the journey, we must respect the journey no matter how hard it gets to carry on. The journey has a beautiful way of taking care of itself and also us. It will give us the necessary motivation and feedback to change and improve our circumstances. We can’t stop anywhere, perseverance is about moving from one step to another and being continuously focussed on the journey

You made my day bro- I need to watch it !! This was fabulous and as you said inspirational .Our troubles are our biggest teachers and motivators helping us break the shackles of difficulties .
When chased by the boys .. the kid had no option but to run as fast as possible. Moreover, its like if someone gets what he/she has been longing for at the rightest time , he/she respects that thing dearly !

    • Thanks dude :) .. You are very kind with your compliments :) ..

Oh Yes! I think that is the perfect parallel between Tom Hanks and Aamir! Arguably the best actors cinema has seen. I love the scene where the shackles break, like you said there was no choice for him but to run, sometimes I believe adversity or a challenge is the nicest things to happen, they make us push beyond the limits we put for ourselves, make us go beyond and reach out!

This movie tops my all time favourites list. The message is subtle but very motivating. Another thing I observed was how humble and simple Forrest remains till the end. Opportunities follow us if we are foused and grounded. Thanks for sharing this :-)
