When I was a young girl I believed successful people are highly talented and there are times when I wished if only I was talented enough. As time passed I started to notice people who started from the scratch without any talent to accomplish the most amazing things in the world. I was little ashamed to have lived in this belief until I realized there are still few who believes that talent, smartness and luck makes a successful person. Now that’s a sign of relief of not being the only idiot!
Richard St. John -An average guy as he describes himself is a successful man who loves to research on success and successful people has come up with a video which says what’s common in most of the successful people. I strongly urge you to watch this video as it is bound to take off a few unwanted beliefs off your system.
What I really would love to take away from this video..
Are successful people WORKAFROLIC?
Well, trust me, it is not a spelling mistake, I was not going for workaholic :P
Is it true? Do people enjoy while working? I guess that must be true and that’s the reason they work hard. How can someone have fun at work? Well I think all the business tycoons, actors, musicians, politicians’ love what they do and that’s how they have fun at work.
Do you overestimate talent?
Hmmm sometimes yes right… when we hear a musician play we tend to believe its mostly because of his talent he is successful where on the other hand we also know talent alone didn’t make him successful, there is a lot of hard work and persistence that has made him what he is today. And to get that talented, I am sure he would have put in a lot of time, energy and emotions to make it that consistent and that beautiful.
Do you overestimate smartness?
Oh yes we do it! This reminded of a quote “Winners don’t do different things but they do things differently” I love this quote but I guess for the winners to discover a smart way to achieve they have to peddle against stupid ways of their own.
If we look at most of the successful people we can see most of them were the poor performers at schools and colleges ( Well this is the best motivation for me as I can compare their childhood with mine :) ) and today they are the ones who have made it to the top. (How smart do you have to be to be successful?)
So what is the real message behind this video, this article and the past 8 mins you spent on the site?
“Being successful is not just a matter of a little hard work, a little talent, a little luck, a little resource but above all there is something more important, it is YOU!”

Superb video. Thanks for posting. I was literally down to knee. This video just gave me enough strength to continue.
I guess it is the desire of being successful which actually inspires others to be successful in this world.
True Alok, the desire which inspires us to work harder and that again which takes care of itself. Almost making it a cyclic effect :)
When a person wants to be successful, it is very much necessary he first defines what success means to him. But, you have really presented the content in great manner. N yes I will definitely go thru the book u recommend.;)
Thank you Amit :). I loved his video , very beautifully established links between success and the character of people.
Thank you for the kind words Amit, happy to know that you liked the video. That book is rated amongst his bestsellers, might be a worthy try :)
