Never Regret Yesterday, Life is in you today – L Ron Hubbard
This is a beautiful quote by Ron Hubbard. “Never Regret Yesterday, Life is in you today” is a quote that emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment. We can see this in Gandhi’s quote as well – Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Past and present are both made-up constructs. We can only feel and realise what’s happening now. With time being so precious, we can’t afford to be lost in worries or fears of past and present.
Life isn’t about dwelling on past regrets. Instead of focusing on what has already happened, we should embrace the opportunities and possibilities that exist in the present. It reminds us that life is constantly evolving. We have the power to shape our experiences and make the most of each day. The quote encourages us to let go of regrets and embrace the beauty and potential of the present moment, recognizing that life and its possibilities are always within us.
Life is in you today and you make your tomorrow – L Ron Hubbard
Never regret yesterday. Life is in you today, and you make your tomorrow
- The only certainty you have is this moment right now, this day in front of you.
- Decide now how best you can use this day. Each action shapes its own results, act today which will shape your tomorrow.
- You cannot go back in time and change the past. Unfortunately you cannot change the ramifications of that past on the current day. But, you can decide how to use this day to its best to shape your tomorrow.
- It is easy to wallow in guilt and regret. It doesn’t need any effort. Just think of your mistakes and you are already there.
- But your personality and character is beyond these faults. It is about accepting what has gone wrong and trying to make things right.
Focus on the efforts which give you results and get where you want. Don’t let the negative emotions distract you from your real goal. After all, you have got one day and that is today.

This is what the people regreting should dwell upon
“After all your regret is also trying to tell you something. Listen to the message rather than falling into a guilt trip or an emotional roller coaster which distracts you from the final goal”..
Regret is one thing which can alter your path to sucess. It’ the most dreadful hurdle, if one has to be successful he/she has to get rid of it as early as possible.
Thanks for the article.
Hi Mayuresh, always a delight to hear from you. True, regrets are very powerful distractions. But they can also be extremely powerful allies and motivators if we use them well.
I think both pain and pleasure have a really good way of motivating us. Pain unfortunately hurts and makes us think more.
Pleasure is a nice feeling of excitement and helps us to do more things with a lot of inspiration. On their own, both are very impactful emotions. As with anything, the outcome of these emotions lies with us. In case of regrets, it is a very clear pain because of something that went wrong in the past. Now, we can live in the past or follow the thoughts of this quote – Never regret yesterday!
Although it sounds fairly impossible, I would like to take the message of what the regret is trying to say and how best we can use it to move forward. After all, we are not just focused on feeling better, but on creating results and actions which matter to us. On that note, full respect to L RON HUBBARD.
“Never regret yesterday, life is in you today! “
So nice thoughts.
Its easier said than done…i know this is a cliché
Regrets about yesterdays are usually because someone had hurt you or you made a wrong choice in life (in action, word, whatever). It generates a lot of pain and the only way out according to me is “closure”.
If it is someone else we have to forgive him and if it is our own mistake, we need to forgive ourselves. It’s as important to forgive own-self and move on. We miss to do that and instead let the repentance grow.
Definitely Suman! Regrets and guilts are two big monsters to deal with. In my experience, both regrets and guilt have a way of compounding if they are not dealt with. There is a great deal of strength in dealing with regret and finding a response pattern to it.
With these feelings, like you said, it is never easy to find a closure. We find it in parts and find a reasonable end point to it. Regrets tend to resurface and keep asking you to do something about it. The answer truly is in focusing on today and finding a better way to answer the regret. On that note, I was penning an article on practical thoughts to overcome regret. . I know these things are never easy, but we cannot let them control us. The moment we let that happen, we tend to get into a negative spiral which often ends bad and grows.
I completely agree with your point on forgiveness, sometimes that is linked to an action. Maybe not one action but sometimes many of them to try and find solace in a temporary solution. Just like any negative emotion, a physiological action goes a long way in treating the symptoms of a problem. In this case, it is the bad feeling due to regret. If we find an action worth focusing on and define an answer pattern for our guilt, we are already making a headway towards responding to guilt and bringing the focus back to things which matter at that point in time.
