How to Advertise Your Business to Millennials

According to Pew Research Center, millennials are considered to be the generation that was born between 1981 and 1996. This highly-educated group (nearly half have either attended or are currently attending a higher-education institution) are quite tech-savvy, and unlike many believe, isn’t necessarily cheap. They’re willing to spend money and have actually been found to outspend other generations significantly, making it essential for just about every business to market to this group.

Here’s how you can advertise your business most effectively to millennials to boost your customer base.

Take Every Advantage Social Media Brings

To best market to millennials, your business must be on social media platforms, and ideally more than one. This is where your organization can most easily connect with this target audience as it’s where they spend a good portion of their day, and where they go for information. When millennials look for a business or brand to buy from, they hope to build a relationship as they’ve grown up building them through social networks.

By providing useful information about your products or services and your business, it will help build your brand. It’s important to post interesting, engaging information and videos multiple times each week, or even better, at least once per day. Stay engaged with customers and potential customers by answering comments, sharing their posts and asking questions that welcome feedback.

Use Lots of Quality Videos

Using video is no longer an option, it’s a must. One study that surveyed millennials discovered that 80 percent use videos to research before making purchase decisions. You don’t want to simply churn out as many videos as possible, however, the more important thing is to produce high-quality content that’s just one part of your marketing strategy. Videos that are well-crafted appeal on an emotional level that can help you and your business stand out from the crowd, increase conversion rates and encourage more repeat customers.

Support Worthy Causes

Supporting a worthy cause is not only just a good thing to do – it can help recruiter stronger talent and retain employees as well as attract more customers, particularly millennial customers as they often look to purchase from businesses who do so. You’ll make the world a better place and provide more incentive to buyers at the same time.

Think Soft Selling

While your marketing strategy can include some traditional aspects, you should also add newer, more digitally-focused strategies that appeal to millennials. This generation doesn’t like hard sell tactics, it turns them off if you’re right in their face talking about how great your services/products are. Whether you are showcasing a Cincinnati open house or selling a new gadget, you need to speak with millenials on their own terms.

The indirect route is better, collaborating with influencers to help promote what you do. These influencers are people who have significant social medial followings and help get your brand in front of a larger audience. When millennials see someone who they trust using your products or services, they’re more likely to do the same. Tutorial videos are a great option for showing off your products, allowing viewers to actually see what they’re about.
