Grow to your Dreams, Don’t shrink to your fears!

Grow to your dreams: In today’s quote of the day section – I want to talk about this motivational quote – grow to your dreams. Over the last few days, I’ve been looking at my life’s goals and wondering if I’ve been true to them. Part of me says Yes – I have been agile and adapted to the situation to change some of these dreams. Another part of me plays the devil’s advocate questioning- have I compromised some of these dreams in the name of being realistic.

An honest answer for both these questions is yes. But I’d like to think most of us go through this cycle of dreams, hurt and then dreaming again. In today’s quote analysis, I’d only like to pose these questions – are there any dreams of yours that are being compromised? If so, what can you do about it today to get back on track?

Grow to your Dreams, Don’t shrink to your fears!

Why do we shrink to our fears?

You might recall that majority of our quotes talk about fears and their debilitating influence on us. They are hard to get through, but with a few steps, you can overcome these fears. But before jumping straight into that, it is important to understand your motivation and why you want to overcome these fears. The fears have a significant role in telling us what’s important to us. If we break them down sufficiently, we should be able to find a way around.
That being said, fears also have a role in questioning your dreams. Of late, when I think of what I’m dreaming about – I have a murmur in my ear asking – How realistic is that? But do these dreams have to be realistic? One of Richard Branson’s fantastic quotes is – if your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough. Maybe, we need to ask these questions instead

  • Are we letting our fears control our dreams?
  • Do these fears let me grow or sink my ambitions?
  • And finally – what is the practical value of these fears? Is it a signal to work on something or just weaken me?
  • Lastly – Am I being fair to myself and my dreams by letting these fears rule over my thoughts and emotions?

It is unfair to say to someone that they should live a life without fears. But the key skill to develop is to listen to these fears and understand what they truly mean.

Grow to your dreams

The premise is simple. If you are passionate about something, it is for a reason. Don’t let your fears talk over your passions. The dreams may be unrealistic or even impossible. But let them bloom – don’t kill these dreams before they can flourish (inspirational quotes on dreams)

You need to give some time and space for a dream to develop into something tangible. If you’re binding them with shackles, then you’re literally killing the spirit of these dreams. Instead, just lean in and listen. Let them be whatever they are and tell you something about it. Once the dream strengthens, you can find a way to make it a reality. There are lots of ways to break down your dreams into practical steps.

Most importantly, grow to your dreams – the phrase in itself is powerful. The focus of this quote is on the word grow. The fears diminish you while the dreams can grow your capabilities. Success and failure, in the end, are mere outcomes, but growth is stronger than that. It naturally improves your capability and the outcome you have will anyway be better because of the improved capabilities.

  1. I like this exploration of perspectives, of growing a bigger limit instead of conforming to what you think your ceiling is. Great post right here. Thanks for sharing!

    • Thanks Stuart, great to hear from you. It is funny – I’ve been looking at that quote on my calendar for almost 15days and questioning myself – am I doing that. And sometimes it is really hard to be critical and identify the compromises we make. Feels nice to hear that this article was able to resonate with your thoughts.
