For The Anu Aunties Of Our Lives
1.5 million isn’t that a great achievement? It sure is! We are the proud producers of brilliant engineers from India and also at the same time its not so proud to see India producing thousands of engineers who really don’t want to be an engineer (call them inducted engineers) And I proudly say I am one such. My parents didn’t force me, I chose it with the lack of knowledge and now feel happy to have chosen something else with some knowledge :)
Recently, I heard a joke which says, ” India is a country where people become engineers first and later think on what to become.” I was one such thinker and I know there are many such thinkers who are reading this article now.
How we would love to see a place where people are allowed to opt on what they want to become instead opt on what their family, friends and relatives what them to become. This isn’t only about engineering, there are many such educational courses which you are insisted upon to pursue. And when I mention the other sources which show extra interest in your life, I have to mention about Anu Aunty. An icon, most of us chose to blame in our lives. A person who gives us a blueprint of what to do in your life and pokes his nose at every stage of your life.
For the ones who don’t know who Anu Aunty is- Anu Aunty is a fiction character of the book “How I Braved Anu Aunty & Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company” written by Varun Agarwal, an engineer by qualification (default) but an entrepreneur by choice.Varun Agarwal co-founded Alma Mater and two other companies – Reticular and Last Minute Films.
Varun Agarwal is also a filmmaker, mostly famous with his short videos, Here is his latest short video which has gone viral.
(“Anu aunty” my mind keeps singing this ever since I heard this song.)
