It also talks about appreciating imperfections and moving through life while taking sensible risks. The article can be summarised into 3 key points

“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful”

The quote “Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles, and less than perfect conditions. So what? Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful” encourages individuals to take action despite imperfections or challenges. We have a strange association with perfection.

Things are never perfect, but perfection helps us think that we are in control. But experience has taught me that there will never be such a thing. We need to make compromises to achieve our results and life rarely goes as per plan. The best thing we can do is to be open and continually adapt to move towards our results. Ultimately, it isn’t the plan that counts but the outcomes that we want.

This quote emphasizes the importance of starting on the journey towards their goals without waiting for perfect circumstances. By taking action, we can learn, grow, and become more resilient and confident with each step. This eventually leads to success.

Imperfection is good

I know that it sounds like a lofty statement. Also, perfectionists would hate reading this statement. But perfection is truly overrated. A general search about why imperfection is good brings out the following results.

  1. Learning and Growth: Imperfections present opportunities to learn from mistakes and grow personally and professionally.
  2. Innovation: Embracing imperfections can lead to creative solutions and innovative ideas.
  3. Authenticity: Imperfections make us human and authentic, allowing for genuine connections with others.
  4. Flexibility: Embracing imperfection fosters adaptability and resilience in the face of change.
  5. Humility: Recognizing imperfections cultivates humility and a willingness to seek continuous improvement.
  6. Diverse Perspectives: Imperfections encourage diverse viewpoints and approaches to problem-solving.
  7. Lower Expectations: Letting go of perfectionism can reduce stress and anxiety, promoting mental well-being.

Now, I don’t want to sell the point about being imperfect to you. But the idea is that time is the most precious thing and we ought to keep moving. If we stop until the conditions are perfect, the right time would have elapsed. In this process, we would have lost the most valuable thing of all – time. Maybe it is not such a bad thing to keep moving forward and work with good enough conditions. It doesn’t suggest haste, nor overconfidence. Moving forward shouldn’t come at the cost of being cautious or over confident. We ought to consider our risks and find a way to work through them. Success comes amidst these challenges and difficulties.
