Carnegie was born to a poor farmer. He started his job by selling soap, bacon and later got opportunities to work as a traveling salesman  for the International Correspondence Schools. Later, he went up to become an actor, not pleased by the experience, Carnegie decided to quit the job. There was a stage in his life when he was unemployed and was totally broken. This phase of life led him to the realization of his people skills that made him a successful salesman. He began teaching at the night classes where it went on to become an immediate success. Within 2 years his classes became so successful that he decided to start his own institution and that is how Dale Carnegie Institute was founded. And, rest of his story, we know from his books. His book “How To Win Friends and Influence People” still remains one of the best sellers of all time with over 6 million sold copies.

  1. Nice post Vidyashree :) Dale Carnegie is a big name as far writing and self help topics are concerned. I though did not read him much but I have gone through many articles on him and his writing. Frankly speaking it was his impact only why I started writing on self help on my blogs….
