Perseverance Is a Great Element Of Success
“Perseverance is a great element of Success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake somebody”
What is the secret of success? What is the one thing that sets you apart from the world?
In other words, what is the one skill which makes you the most successful person?
Controversial as the answer maybe, I will take anything as an answer – Talent, Skill, Motivation, Resources, Time, Patience, Perseverance and what not. Each of them will make a very argument as to why they are essential for success. And rightly so, you cannot succeed without any one of them. We need all of these to be working in tandem to be successful in our endeavours.
Perseverance is a great element of success:
But today, we shall stick to perseverance as promised in the title of the post or else Henry Wadsworth Longfellow might feel a little bad for misleading you :).
The daily inspirational quote of the day is “Perseverance” and it is going to be our word of the day.
Every motivational book I have read talks about perseverance, every successful person talks about not giving up. Even Winston Churchill defines success as
” Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without the loss of enthusiasm”
A similar quote from Longfellow today says “Perseverance is a great element of success”
It is true that we hate to fail in life, none of us likes that – it is irritating and makes us question our abilities. It even makes us question what our real goals in life are. And sometimes it makes us question how badly we want to achieve and if there is an alternate path.
If we look closely, each of these questions becomes extremely important in the larger frame of the world order. We need to answer the demons within us. Perseverance sure is a great word but truth is it is never easy to maintain the enthusiasm when we are pushed down by failures.
Perseverance is a great element of success: Keep Going
Perhaps this one question may help
“Why, Why and Why?”
And I think that is the only question which matters – why are we doing this? What this means to us and what this doesn’t mean to us?
Each one of us has to go through that internal analysis of the things we do and rightly so. The only person who needs to be convinced about your goals is yourself – not the society, nor your parents and not even your spouse. All you need to know is how badly you want something and how committed you are to get there.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow calls it perseverance, we call it commitment, some call it enthusiasm and some other call it the gut to keep going.
But all of these words lead you to one thing in common – “To Keep Going”
And that is all we are trying to say today. It is easy to lose out for a failure. It is easy to go down on one’s knees and select a plan B to get our lives back on track.
But it is never easy to persevere and perhaps that is why so few people do it.
All that matters is what are you willing to give to achieve this dream of yours?
And there lies your answer.
We part with the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“Perseverance is a great element of Success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake somebody”

Wow…you have began with a such a great quote! Absolutely agree with you. If we can find out the answer of “why are we doing this? ” right from the heart we can go on without losing enthusiasm and this is what is most important. Thank you again for another inspirational post. :)
Thank you Moon Roy. Growing up I had always believed that intelligence and IQ matters the most in life and everything else was secondary. It was a hard lesson but learning how the other factors add to our character was a great lesson and somehow elevated the quality of my life to the next extend. It feels really good to look at the real world this way :)
All has been said by my fellow friends. :-D
he he he :)
For this time Vinay, Copy-Paste Ravish’s words as mine … :)All has been said :) Beautiful post and H.G. Longfellow is an old chum regarding quotes … I rely on him Fully :)
He he he :D .. Thank you Kokila, he sure is an awesome character and has come up with some really charming words. I always figured him for wordsworth since all of his words had so much of worth in them ;).
But wadsworth works too :)
Nothing will take the place of persistence. Talent won’t: Nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with latent. Genius won’t: Unrewarded genius is a proverb. Education won’t: The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are alone omnipotent. ~ Calvin Coolidge
I hadn’t heard of this quote Ravish, so apt and spot on! The world is full of educated derelicts :D :D ..
That’s a neat phrase which I would love to reuse ;). I agree, too much of importance has been given to intelligence and so called talent. There is so much more in life which really matters – like the true spirit of perseverance which makes it all count..
