Burn up the mistakes, start Anew

In 1914 Thomas Edison’s factory in West Orange, New Jersey, was destroyed by fire. The damage costed him a lot of money even though the building was insured. The fire was all over the place , his son frantically searched for Edison, on finding his father the son was surprised to see his father in a calm state watching the fire.

Upon seeing his son Edison shouted, “Charles, where is your mother? Bring her here. She will never see anything like this as long as she lives.”

The next morning, Edison watching the ruins said ,“There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God we can start anew.”

Three weeks after the the fire incident, Edison delivered the first phonograph.

People have often said – there is always a silver lining, probably we might just have to look a little harder. Sometimes, rather than most times it is hard and in retrospect, it is a wonderful story. But just to have that knowledge that adversity can bring us a whole new fortune is quite an attitude to have and a brilliant perception to have.
