5 Lessons To Learn From Oprah Winfrey

google.co.in

Oprah Winfrey often called the “Queen of all media” started her career as a talk show host and moved to become an actress, producer, philanthropist and today she owns a channel of her own. She was the first successful African Woman to have a successful career in TV. She has also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom( one of the highest civilian awards) by Barack Obama.

We have many things to take from such an inspiring lady. Here we bring out 5 incidents of her life which has shaped her to become what she is today.

The great courageous act that we must all do, is to have the courage to step out of our history and past so that we can live our dreams.

Oprah came from a poor economic and family background. She had an unfortunate childhood. She was sexually abused by her relatives as a young girl; She became pregnant at the age of 14 and delivered a baby who unfortunately died.

Imagine the emotional state of a young girl going through all these. It could have affected her adversely. We all go through emotional breakdowns. Its feels impossible to stand up again but if you give some time and extra care and push yourself a little harder everyday you can stand again, stronger than before.

You can have it all just not all at once.

She started her job at the radio, went on to host a tv show and today she owns a channel of her own called OWN. She was criticized for her colour, her physical appearance and was also told to have hosted the show without emotions. If you look at her show today your are sure to connect with her emotionally.

Nothing comes easily in life. Its takes years of struggle and persistence to achieve your dreams. Think of all the successful people, they have had many failures and hardships which shaped them to reach the place where they are today.

Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.

There was a time when Oprah received a award for the best television host and she wished she had never got it as she was ashamed of the weight she had put on after losing. She challenged herself and struggled hard for days to get back to what she desired and accomplished it.

We can’t become what we want to be by being the same way we were. We have to go out work hard every day to see the transformation. Throw challenges to yourself and work on it, you will realize you have much more in you than what you believed.

Go ahead, fall down. The world looks different from the ground.

Oprah ended her tv show and launched her OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) channel. One year later she read ‘Oprah: Not Quite Standing on Her OWN’ on one of the leading newspapers.

Starting her own channel was a risk but as they say the biggest risk in life would be never taking risks. Sometimes it’s good to fall down, look at all the better and clever ways to implement, pull your socks up and start again.

I still have my feet on the ground, I just wear better shoes.

Once when asked about how money has changed her she said the above line. Oprah is a philanthropist and has helped emotionally and socially deprived people. She is empathetic to people’s emotions and pain and she is trying her way out to help people.

This what giving back to the society means. When the society gives you success, love and happiness it deserves a little from you too. It’s not just the financial support. You see a lot of people who need your love, care and concern. We feel it’s mostly an outsider who needs help but we don’t realize we have those lot many closer ones wanting our emotional support.
