What according to you constitutes a failure?

what constitutes a failure, definition of failure, failure quotes, quotes j.k.rowling, j.k.rowling motivation, how to define failure and success in life

I am sure the society will have a huge list of things as to what a success is and what failure is. Something that has always made me curious is, the definitions somehow seem to keep on changing every now and then.

It is one definition when you are a student, another when you get a job, yet another when you have kids and then another when they get into schools and what not. Looks like the list is never ending. And I guess it is in all of us to try and satisfy the society so that they can leave us alone.

But truth is, it never does! Not unless you ask it to stop. And I don’t think we have to be vocal about it either. We probably would just have to shut it out. Something in a format where you being a part of the society but yet not being one among them.

I do agree it is hard and it is so easy to slip into the wider cultural delusion. But I guess that will always be the case. I think what we need to do perhaps is to try and define what success and failure means to us, not to the society, not to our parents but to us. What we think constitutes a satisfied life. Whether we want to be a writer or an actor or an entrepreneur, the beauty is we always get a chance to define. And to that, nobody else has a right. And if they try to, you can always show them their place!

Success for me , is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful and I think , one has really failed only the Day he stopped trying….

So true Phani. I think success is wrongly labelled as a destination. It is a continuous process and it is bound with a lot of failures on the path which make sure that you’re led to the final success

Thank you for the views Phani, would love to keep hearing more from you :)

I totally agree with you that we have to define what success and failure means to us! I feel rather than success, we should focus more on happiness!

Thank you Ratna :) . True, I think it is a highly confused thing about success and failure and the definitions even more so. I guess in such a case why let the reins to a third party, we are better at definitions anyway ..

Thank you for stopping by and the views Ratna. Would love to keep hearing more from you :)

What is success and what is failure? There’s no set criteria for me because even when we fail in something that’s important for us, on hindsight, those failures look like success. :)

Very true. It does become a very hard thing to try and objectively define the two . And like you said you never know which mistakes were the most essential ones for the achievement to happen :)

The definition of ‘success’ begins to change because our roles and relationships, ages and stages change with time. And since most things are decided by society, so is the definition of your success, and even the measurement of your happiness. You bring this out very well.
But it is your solution to this ‘problem’ that I most like. Yes, we need to first talk to ourselves and get our own definitions straight. And then voice them! :)
