Ideas are like rabbits: A startup is much more than an idea. Most literature tends to either romanticise the idea or grit of an entrepreneur. What if I told you that the truth was somewhere in the middle? I believe that the beauty of startups is in a great execution of an idea. The idea has to be good, but not all good ideas become successful. We have to become good at processing these ideas and making them work.
In this article, we will discuss about identifying the ideas, assessing them whether they’re good before turning them into a business. This discussion is deeply inspired by the quote by John Steinback
Ideas are like rabbits, you get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen

Ideas are like Rabbits Meaning
What is the meaning of ideas are like rabbits?: I believe this quote refers to the concept of multiplication of ideas. As you’re aware, rabbits are known for breeding. In this context, we’re speaking about the ability to multiply ideas. Perhaps you can relate to the days where you’re flooded with ideas and some others where you’ve had to work very hard to generate the simplest ones.
The quote refers to the process of generating and handling these ideas. It is as if you’re on a dance, once you get the hang of the process, it is about repeating this process to achieve your success. In this context of ideas are like rabbits, it merely is about latching on to process of generating the first few. And then you will be able to find a way to repeat it predictably. Creating a spark of innovation
I love the idea of this quote – sparking innovation, one idea at a time. I can’t believe that people are short of ideas. Maybe we’re short of environments to create great ideas and hence innovation. The beauty is that each of us has our route to bring up this innovation. It makes me feel like an adventurer on a journey to find the route of what innovates me the most.
If you ever feel stuck for ideas, maybe it is time to consider the environment around you. Have you created the right environment that your creative brain craves for? As the quote suggests, maybe ideas are like rabbits. If we’re able to find a process of generating some ideas, perhaps it can be repeated and so can innovation. The most common literature for being innovative suggests environments that are:
- Non Judgemental
- Curious
- Eager to make mistakes and learn
- Fun
The list can continue, but I believe the journey is personal for each of us – to create an environment that our ideas deserve to shine.
