The quote, “no matter how filthy something gets you can always clean it up,” is simple, elegant, and extremely effective. It can be interpreted in so many different ways and has implications that extend beyond just cleaning something physical.
In life, things can get messy and out of control. No matter how much we try to bring things in line with our thoughts and plans, sometimes it goes beyond our control. The question is, what do we do about it? Do we choose to put our hands over our heads and lament or do we get up and start making it right?
There is no one right thing
The beauty of life is that there is no one right thing, and there are always multiple ways to arrive at the right result. It may be straightforward sometimes, or sometimes even very roundabout, but the truth and the beauty are that there is always a solution if we decide to find it.
No matter how messy things can get, they can always be resolved. Think of Y2K and how we have gone past it, think of Japan and the nuclear bombs and look at it today, think of the Dalai Lama and the Tibet situation. The fact is, there always is a way out; it’s a question of outlook!
It is so easy to give up and wallow in self-pity, saying that there is nothing much we can do about it. However, the bigger thing to do is to take up responsibility and live up to it. We need to accept the whole responsibility and a solution is not the toughest result to reach; it is always the outlook.
No matter how filthy something gets
Belief is a very powerful emotion. Every time something beats us down and keeps us on our knees, it is the belief that can get us up and clear things out. There is always a solution or a set of rationalizations. Again, the choice is solely upon us!
The bottom line is that no matter how bad things seem, how bad they look and feel, the solutions are not the hardest ones to find. An adequate focus and a deliberate decision can go a long way over a mere thought and easier self-pity.
In conclusion, this quote serves as a reminder to us all that no matter how bad things get, there is always a solution. We just have to have the right attitude, take responsibility, and be willing to put in the effort to find it. Life is messy, but it’s also beautiful, and we have the power to clean up any messes that come our way.

Stealing quotes from Bruce Almighty, I see. Is it even a quote if you don’t actually attribute the creator?
Matt, calm down. I’m not claiming the quote to be mine – im sure you can find something productive to do than being aggressive . Well having said that it’s a good opportunity for me to refresh this list and certainly I’m happy to attribute to Bruce almighty !
Whoa dude jeez you don’t have to rip my head off. Just pointing out where the quote came from. No need for extra hostility and stress, ouch. It’s not worth it, man.
Exactly what I am telling you about. If you are less hostile, you can get a lot more done :).
One physical mess that I have failed in cleaning up – trash in the Himalayas. Every time I’ve visited the Himalayas, I’ve failed to have enough time to clean up the mess :( it makes me sad… Always :(
But, I agree with ur article :) there are lots of things that don’t work according to our plan but finally there’s always light at the end of the tunnel! :-)
Oh yea :( .. It’s a huge pile!! Wonder what it takes to clean it all up..
Why go that far I’m still having difficulty with my room

Nice take Vinay. Yes if we do create dirt it is upto us to clean it up :)
Thank you mate :) ..
Very true, the responsibility is always on us, the more we shy from it, the short term of course seems easier but in the long run its a lot easier this way :)
Loved the post so much that I am sharing the last few lines as my status update :)
