Zak Ebrahim : I Am A Terrorist’s Son But…..

Zak Ebrahim was born to an Egyptian industrial engineer and an American school teacher. When Ebrahim was seven, his father El-Sayyid Nosair killed the founder of the Jewish Defense League, Rabbi Meir Kahane. Later  he, co-masterminded the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

After Ebrahim’s father’s imprisonment, his family moved more than twenty times hiding it’s identity from his father’s acquaintances and maintaining the family history as a secret. A few incidents shaped him to become a completly different person. Much better than what anyone could think.

Here is a talk from Ebrahim on the path he chose. It’s a beautiful tedtalk which will touch your heart.

Think of all the pain the boy might have undergone as a child, unable to decide what’s right and what’s not, whether to follow his father or to believe in something which is totally a different thought to him, for he was brought up with a father who trained him to fire bullets, which built in him the wrong notion of religious believes, which tempted him to believe that every act you do you do it for the sake of religion and its the most precious act you can do for The God.

The Terrorist’s Son: A Story of Choice

Coming on to a platform like this is a great risk. He has taken the initiative to spread the message against terrorism, to help those little ones who are forced to follow their parents footsteps. Ebrahim has pinned down his remarkable journey towards peace as a book named The Terrorist’s Son: A Story of Choice

A few excerpts from his book :

I’m convinced that empathy is more powerful than hate and that our lives should be dedicated to making it go viral.

Everyone has a choice. Even if you’re trained to hate, you can choose tolerance. You can choose empathy.

Ebrahim quoted his mother’s words “I’m tired of hating people” At one stage of life we all get tired too. Love is the only thing that wins over all the hatred within. Love alone is the solution, for it is the elixir of life.

  1. This is something I totally agree with, No one is criminal by birth, he/she must have taught odd doings. Our choices develop our personalities. Its we who decide whether to go with right choice or a wrong choice. Inspiring Video and Post Vidya….:)

  2. Awesome post sister. When I was doing my mountaineering course from JIM Pehlgam (Kashmeer) one of my instructor was once a militant. Later he surrendered and joined the civilian life again.

We were having 6 instructors and among six , three were from Indian Army and rest three were civilians. When Younis sir shared his past I really felt good that he chose led a good life.

Thanks for the great post :)

  3. Mixed feelings… Feeling sad thinking of his sufferings and feeling good thinking how optimistically he has taken his life! Very very inspiring! I want to read this book…

TC! Keep smiling :) Keep inspiring :)

  4. That was so inspiring…yes we can always choose and empathy is the best emotion ever
