I think everybody should get rich and famous – Jim Carrey

I think everybody should get rich and famous: A beautiful quote from Jim Carrey talking about the values of richness and fame. Growing up, I always thought these were the biggest values to aim for, but now as I question these values and try to understand what motivates me – these questions and thoughts help. Are richness and fame the ultimate goal? How about the other values of happiness, kindness, generosity and connection to your own internal values?

I think everyone should get rich and famous, and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer

Jim Carrey

In this article, we go through these questions to understand what makes the most sense to you. Eventually the richness goal is not a bad one, but needs to be a conscious one.

I think everybody should get rich and famous Meaning

With Jim Carrey I want everyone to be a rich quote, it immediately makes me want to think about the other things our lives can be about. Looking at our lives as a whole, it can’t be just about money and fame. What about relationships, kindness, gratitude and so many other aspects of our life can be about? Isn’t it limiting to think just about money and fame?

I Think Everyone Should Become Rich and Famous so That They Know It is Not The Answer – Jim Carrey

The latter part of Jim Carrey’s I want everyone to be rich quote focuses on the reality and even the vanity of this goal. Sure, it gets you all the attention and perhaps more possibilities in life. But I will keep asking the question – is that all? Why should our lives be only about money and fame? Aren’t there any other areas which we want to focus, embrace and live?

Or, are we so swept away by this craze of marketing and TV ads that we’re desensitised to our emotions and values?

Is being rich and famous worth it?

In light of this quote, we need to ask this question – is being rich and famous worth it? The philosophical mindset says – No – it is not worth it just to be rich and famous. But life is never as simple and straightforward as that. There are additional complexities and the most valuable place is to have the best of all worlds i.e lots of money, love, fulfilment and joy. But maybe the answer is in finding and defining our success and a happy life. The thirst for money and richness can be never ending. If we tie our happiness to just money, it can immediately become a dangerous goal.

Being rich and famous is worth it because:

  • It gives us financial independence and the ability to do other things in life. We have more time to pursue the things that we want and a corresponding freedom
  • Money naturally brings a network of people who are in similar state and opens our life up to new opportunities
  • It is fun to have the luxury the best things money can buy, provide comfort and ease of a lifestyle not easily accessible to others

Being rich and famous is not worth it because:

  • Most people try to market to you and find a benefit from your position or influence – it becomes hard to separate real relationships vs materialistic ones
  • Fame and money can be a lonely place because real people might have a barrier to enter your life and you might create a filter that can make it challenging to develop real relations
  • The hunt for money and fame can lead to a never ending quest causing additional pressure, mental health issues etc

Ultimately this is the essence of Jim Carrey’s quote on money – I Think Everyone Should Become Rich and Famous so That They Know It is Not The Answer. The main point in this quote is that money and fame are not the be-all and end-all of our lives. Life is richer and more powerful than these two goals which can limit our possibilities.

Jim Carrey quote on money

This is a beautiful quote from Jim Carrey about money, richness and fame. Money, fame are huge motivators and one of the most charismatic things that take our attention. But how important and big are they compared to the other things in life? I’m conscious that money can get us comforts, possibilities and the ability to do what we want in life (Mostly). But the quote from Jim Carrey makes us pause and think – what if everyone was rich and famous? Is it only richness that gives us freedom or the feeling of uniqueness that makes us feel differently about it?

We all have very limited time in our lives – makes the most sense to spend it on things that matter to us. This cannot be determined by either the society or marketing industries. Your values, thoughts and dreams are personal and internal. If anyone else says otherwise, they are making you live their own life or aspirations which is something you need to actively rebel against. A beautiful related quote on similar lines tells us Don’t teach your children to be rich. I think the point is that there are other elements central to a human character that define our lives. Some of these values are long lasting and can make money appear like a minute goal. Maybe that’s the beauty in this Jim Carrey quote on money.
