Nadal Quotes: After a striking win yesterday, I can’t help but relook at one of the old posts which were about Nadal’s inspirational quotes. Although not the favourite to win this Australian open given his injury, it was sensational to watch this man clinch his 21st title. Not only a world record but a sheer mark of inspiration, perseverance and just the joy of watching someone do something never done before.

Perhaps inspiration is the one word that sums it all and I just wanted to bring out this post which is a small collection of Nadal Quotes.

The glory is not winning here or winning there. The glory is enjoying practicing, enjoy every day, enjoying to work hard, trying to be a better player than before!

It is always fascinating to read about winning and losing. I was recently ruminating about this reading the Infinite game – the idea is not just to win once and stop. Life is indeed a journey and a more long term approach is needed rather than confining ourselves to events.

Yes, we will have some great events to celebrate and some to feel a bit sad about. But they are still a part of life. The only thing that remains permanently with us is the journey rather than just the event. It will pass along with many other things as well.

You fight, you try your best, but if you lose, you don’t have to break five racquets and smash up the locker room. You can do those things, but when you’ve finished, nothing’s changed. You’ve still lost. If something positive came from that, I probably would do it. But I see only negativity

This is a fascinating section in Nadal Quotes – things don’t always work in our favour. As much as it is great to celebrate – how we embrace failure is really important. Anger, disappointment and sadness is all justified. They are natural emotions. But these emotions should lead you somewhere. The hurtful emotions can’t keep breeding more hurtful ones.

We ought to find a way that works for us constructively. Or else, we will make ourselves so fragile that at each disappointment, we’re buckling down rather than finding a way to grow strong. And is there any other way than climbing from one failure, learning its lessons to move ahead?

I always had the theory that the most important thing is be happy, enjoy what are you doing, and be fresh mentally.

Nothing is worth it if you don’t enjoy. Success does take determination and hard work. But it has to come from a place of enjoying the process. If you hate everyday of the process, just the result alone will not be enough to make it up for it. The process really is where the secret lies.

You’ve got to find a way to enjoy it or move away to do something else. If your heart is not in it, the question is what are you doing it for?

However great your dedication, you never win anything on your own.

As much as winning appears an individual outcome, there’s always a set of people with it. Some of those who love, encourage and coach you to be your best. It was wonderful to see his speech yesterday noticing people around him who have contributed to his victory.

Of course, the victory and the title are his own, but to acknowledge the people who’ve made it happen is due respect to the fact that winning might not just be an individual outcome.

Losing is not my enemy, fear of losing is my enemy – Nadal Quotes

You probably won’t find a better spokesperson than Nadal quotes for thoughts about fear and failure. As much as the game is about physical competence, there is an element of mental composure. If you let this fear take over, it is saying that you’ve given up at some level.

The fear of losing is an enemy and perhaps an extension for us all – if we let fear rule us, we won’t have a lot to fight for, do we? Related: How to overcome fear?

The only way of finding a solution is to fight back, to move, to run, and to control that pressure – Nadal Quotes

Your results are directly tied to your actions! Thoughts are great, they will guide you toward something. But you can’t afford to spend time in self-pity or find reasons for why things don’t work out. Sometimes, these reasons manifest when you’re on the journey to solve a problem.

The only option we have with us is – when things go wrong – to decide what to do about it. Doing something will get you somewhere. Doing nothing will get you nowhere. It is as simple as that isn’t it?

You just try to play tough and focus point for point. Sounds so boring, but it’s the right thing to do out there – Quotes by Nadal

Life is in increments, isn’t it? Sure, things will appear as an overnight success, but as Biz Stone, founder of twitter says – Timing, perseverance and ten years of trying will eventually make you look like an overnight success (Source). Our glories are in these small victories. These small increments of change and improvements will elevate the standards of our life in a big way.

After all, success is a journey isn’t it? If it was a one shot event – what’s the fun in it?

I’d rather lose an argument than get into a long discussion in order to win it.

Love this Nadal quote – primarily because sometimes arguments will just be for the sake of vanity and ego rather than the point. Ultimately, communication is about getting our point across (Aim of communication). If this results in an argument for the sake of one – find a way to get away from it. You have lots more important things to do with your life.

Your time is far more important than winning the argument for the sake of it. Perhaps sometimes it is better that you lose an argument if it gives you the peace of mind and freedom to do the things you want to.

The thing, when you’re down two sets to love, is to stay calm, even though it’s hard, because people are freaking out, people are worried for you.

This is a typical Nadal Quote isn’t it. I haven’t seen anyone do this better than Nadal – his comebacks are probably the most inspiring part of watching him play. Each time I see the score and think – this is an unwinnable game – he finds a way to do that.

There is no easy win with Nadal and perhaps tthat’s what makes me admire him the most. You can always trust him to just show a magical splendor and come back into the game like no one ever does. And that indeed is a trademark collection of Nadal quotes – purely magical!

Even if I have already peaked, I have to believe I can improve. I wake up every morning, and go to practice, with the illusion that I’m going to get better that day – Nadal Inspiratonal Quotes

And that’s a nice way to end this selection of Nadal Quotes. Even if you are at the top, you’ve got to put immense effort just to stay there. Nothing comes for granted, there’s always something or the other to improve and get better at. The aim is not about perfection but continued progress. We ought to believe in that. Or else, life is just too boring and dull!

  1. As a big tennis fan and Nadal fan, I can say this is one of my favorite posts. Rafa is one of the greatest competitors in men’s sports!

  2. That’s why he tops my list of sporting heroes. I have been his ardent fan for a decade now. His defeat the other day was very demotivating let alone disappointing (:-(). But he’s surely not done, he will bounce back. That’s what makes the man a legend. I just want him to take a bite(s) at future grand slam(s).
And the quotes are really inspiring, the words of a champion and above it, a fantastic human being. Thanks for sharing Ms.

Undoubtedly Nadal is one of the best with remarkable achievements!

“Losing is not my enemy..fear of losing is my enemy.”- Great words here. I think this IS the fear that stops us from trying a number of things in life. Getting over this fear of losing is a win by itself.
