2014 Nobel Literature:Man Without A Diploma

As I heard the news I became curious to know more about Patrick Modiano. I came across one of his interviews. His one sentence caught my thought; he said “Actually, I never thought of doing anything else.” Maybe he is right. If you focus on two rabbits, both will escape.

It’s an interesting fact to know that the Nobel laureate is not much educated academically. He confesses he has no diploma. Most of us still fell being knowledgeable and educated is bound to many academic degrees. He sure is an example to proves ones notion wrong.

“I prefer not to read my early books. Not that I don’t like them, but I don’t recognize myself anymore, like an old actor watching himself as a young leading man.” I prefer not to read my early articles  :D Every successful man was once an amateur. Growth is such phenomenal thing. It transforms you into a refined, polished and enriched self.

“After each novel, I have the impression that I have cleared it all away but I know I’ll come back over and over again to tiny details, little things that are part of what I am”  Modiano sees opportunity for improvisation in every perfection of his and he keeps the work of improvising and enriching his classics intact.

Modiano is popularly known by his novel Missing Person. He has written more than 40 works in French, some of which have been translated into English Night Rounds, Catherine Certitude, Honeymoon, Missing Person, A Trace of Malice, Out of the Dark, Ring Roads and many more. His books carry the themes of Jewishness, the Nazi occupation, identity and aspiration.

Congratulating the Nobel laureate. I am sure it would be interesting to read the “Missing Person.”
