Nactus: An App to Connect Students and Teachers

Technology over the past few years has taken almost every field by storm. The new world of apps helps us connect with our friends, colleagues and also the services that we use regularly. The last I was impressed with was that even grocery shopping has entered the App world now and convenience has been at an all time high for most users. Having said that, there are a few fields where technology is yet to make inroads and education is one such, atleast in India.

However, there is usually limited information available about the tutors, their schedule and availability, expertise and so on. Most times, the private tuitions are sought in face to face meetings and scheduling is a major issue, especially if you belong to different schools where naturally the time tables are different. And this is where Nactus comes into focus. Briefly stated, Nactus is an android app which connects the students to teachers and encourages a communication channel between the two.

There are two parties which the app largely benefits:

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 11.16.33 AMIt is a convenient app for the students to communicate with the teachers. It provides an option for a chat between the two. A large benefit is through the calendar which helps the student identify the availability of the teacher and adjust his calendar accordingly. Additionally, the student gets access to the reviews about a teacher which can help him/her in decision making about the class. The feature to request a trial class is quite helpful in getting a first feel about the lectures and the value add the students can gain from them. The calendar is also equipped with class reminders and alarms which makes the scheduling very convenient for the student. And there is also an option to reschedule the classes based on the availability of the teacher making it highly professional and helpful for a student. In an otherwise unstructured contact structure between a private tutor and a student, Nactus can provide wide benefits.

Screen Shot 2016-02-28 at 11.16.50 AMFor a private tutor, marketing has mainly been achieved through the word of mouth. Although it is still the greatest mode of advertising, a registration can help promote their presence and achieve targeted advertising. The review option is a helpful feature for students to rate their teachers and this acts as an automatic advertising for good quality teaching. The scheduling and communication between students can help the teachers prepare accordingly for their classes in terms of material and allocation of space for their students. The chat service can be used to send quick information to all the students and ensure that it reaches each of them avoiding any leaks in communication channels. The biggest advantage I see for a teacher is through scheduling and the reviews which can help drive more students towards them.

For students, they will be able to identify the quality of the teacher based on the reviews and make a decision about the classes they prefer which makes Nactus a neatly tied Android App to smoothen the private tutor and student schedules. You can download a free version of the app here:

  1. this is a wonderful platform not only for discovery of teacher but also for you day to day class management. Gives a virtual secretary to both the teacher and the student. Quite interesting and well thought

This looks like a great app for both teachers and students. Reviews about the teachers though sound a bit disturbing at the first glance, but from a wider angle, it has quite a number of benefits. It will eventually help the students to get the best and also a couple of good reviews will help a particular teacher to get more students.
    Nice review, Vinay… 🙂
