Harriet Tubman Is The Most Desired To Be On $20 Bill

Harriet Tubman wins over an online poll for Women on the $20 Bill in the US. Online polls asked which woman should be featured on the $20 bill as part of a movement to push President Obama to support the idea to replace Andrew Jackson’s $20 bill with a woman’s face on it.

The polls had famous women’s names as options like Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, and Wilma Mankiller. The polls received 6,00,000 votes in which nearly 1,98,000 were in favour of Harriet Tubman.

If the campaign succeeds in persuading President Barack Obama to remove Andrew Jackson’s currency circulation then probably by 2020s you will get to see $20 bills with Harriet Tubman’s face on it.

If you think why so much for a woman named Harriet Tubman then you should continue reading this:

harriet tubmanDared To Rescue

She was a woman born into slavery where physical violence was a part of daily life which led to permanent physical injuries in her life. She dared to stand up for herself. She rescued from slavery and once she was out she knew what she had accomplished, “When I found I had crossed that line, I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person. There was such a glory over everything; the sun came like gold through the trees, and over the fields, and I felt like I was in Heaven.”

The decision to change the present state to something better is what made Harriet Tubman take the risk. We can estimate that she didn’t exactly know what was coming in her way after the escape but she did believe it was something glorious, much better than her present state and who knows it could be something life changing. At times, the belief to find something better than your present state can take us a long way in life, of course, a beautiful long way.

Extended Courage

Once Harriet Tubman was out of slavery she didn’t stop there, she planned to rescue her friends and families and there she was rescuing people by running more than thirteen missions which saved the lives of hundreds of people.

What thrills about Harriet Tubman is her extended courage to save hundreds of people who went through the same pain which she once went through. Very few of us would dare to do something like her.

Women with many dimensions

She was not just an abolitionist, she was a civil rights activist who also served as a spy and nurse for the Union Army during the Civil Wars. She also struggled for electoral rights for women.

She never stopped her fights. She did all the things she could have done at that time. Back then, in the 1800s a woman dared to fight for civilian rights and justice.

Harriet Tubman has Influenced many lives and even to this day, she influences people who stand up for human rights. A survey at the end of the 20th century named her as one of the most famous civilians in American history before the Civil War.

Now you see the point of why she is being considered to be on $20 bills in the US.
