Today’s Inspirational Quote:
“Each morning we are born again, it is what we do today is what that matters most”
What motivates us? What keeps us going? Is it the hope and fear of today or the aspiration of tomorrow.
Either ways, we have one thing in common, it is the day today. And lucky for us, we can actually choose to live this life one day at a time.
I have always been a very ambitious person who believes in saying that you can conquer the world and all it needs is a bit of hard work in the right direction. I am always that someone who says that if you screw up something, it is an error in procedure and not an error in purpose. And as long as the purpose is crystal clear you have your path defined and redefined with time.
But I realize, so many times that I am so caught up in the dreams of the distant future that the present or the most recent future appears a little smudged. Although I do understand that in the bigger picture I am headed where I want to, it does get confusing sometimes.
It is probably pretty simple. When we are looking at a distant goal, the time for us to see the answer and the result is quite long and we never get to know where we actually are headed and most times we are really unsure if we are right at all. I mean what if we do all of this and what we get in the end is nothing? Isn’t that a realistic fear?
And what if we don’t get there to the final goal and all we did was worked hard and toiled and made so many sacrifices in life?
Perhaps there is an answer to this question here. What if we look at it the other way?
What we want to do with our life is the final goal – the bigger aspect of the project and the biggest picture. And we define this huge dream or a goal in terms of smaller goals which we call the timelines or miniprojects of our life or the paths that lead us to a destiny we design for ourselves. And the moment we realize that we have a plan and a final goal in order, we can’t really wait to get there.
But life is a bit funny isn’t it? It tests us more than we feel we need and asks us how right that final goal is for us and how right the path is? And we endure the journey thinking of that one goal, that one final aspect in our lives and everything else becomes insignificant. But we do miss out on something very important here – the very inspiration and the motivation that drives us. Although we are focussed on where we want to go and what we want to do with our lives, no one ever told that you need to forget the joys of today.
Each day is an inch closer to what we want to do with our lives, to figure out who we are. And the way each day leaves an impact in our lives is astounding. We can either let those experiences shape us and consciously appreciate it or simply look at that one large dream we have been staring at for a long time. The choice as always is ultimately ours but again, a dream doesn’t have to come at the cost of a sacrifice, we can always find ways to make sense of it all along the way.
