Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice

Destiny is not a matter of chance: A compelling statement by William Jennings. This quote inspires me because it talks about the power and control we have in shaping our destiny. There are two approaches to destiny – a fatalist who believes that everything is up to luck and fate. It is a rather challenging way because this gives you very little control and even inspiration to work on your dreams. The other side is someone who goes after their goals with everything they have. In this quote – Destiny is not a matter of choice, it is all about fighting for what we truly believe in to achieve our vision.

Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice meaning

We don’t have a choice but to always accept what happens to us. But how we accept it, what we do about it – makes a huge difference. A defeatist approach says that we shouldn’t do anything and just keep taking what we get. But that’s not destiny. If we had no control over destiny, it would mean nothing in the long run. Ultimately, I’d lose interest in the word destiny if I had no way to influence it.

Destiny is not a matter of chance – William Jennings

Chance: What does chance mean? Is it a random occurrence of things that shape our lives? This belief takes away the value of effort, persistence and hard work to achieve our goals. If everything is up to chance, what is the point in even trying?

Choice: I’d like to say that everything is a choice, including destiny. But I know that sometimes, things don’t work the way we want them to. Instead, we face challenges forcing us to work harder. Sometimes, these occurrences even test our faith in dreams and passions.

Ultimately, our destiny is a matter of choice. If not everything, some of our choices influence our future and most importantly the inspiration to work. If we’re left to nothing, then what’s the purpose of our life?

Destiny is a matter of chance Quote – William Jennings

Well, either could be right! Or either could be wrong! Would you rather err on the side of courage or cowardice? You see, hard work, commitment and belief in dreams demand courage. If you’re not willing to do that, you can be a fatalist and live life as it comes. However, your influence on life would be very minimal.

Another side of the argument says that being a fatalist allows you to accept defeat and take it on your chin. I’d agree to that but only if you’re willing to fight for what you want. We don’t want the words – destiny, fate or luck as excuses for not achieving our dreams and goals. If you have a dream, it deserves every effort you have.

Sometimes, things don’t work out – but that’s got nothing to do with destiny. Destiny always has a way of showing what’s important to us and it’s not always a chance.

Destiny Quotes

While we talk about destiny, it is all about fate. But destiny is bigger than fate. Fate means that we don’t have control over what happens in the future. Destiny however is something that we have a certain amount of control on. Destiny implies that we can influence the direction in which our life can move. It depends on our choices, decisions and having our eye on the vision for our life. This vision helps us think, redirect and change our plans for our goals. This section has 5 quotes on destiny which inspire us to think about life and take back control of life.

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

Steve Jobs

I can control my destiny, but not my fate. Destiny means there are opportunities to turn right or left, but fate is a one-way street. I believe we all have the choice as to whether we fulfil our destiny, but our fate is sealed.

Paulo Coelho

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.

Tony Robbins

Every man has his own destiny: the only imperative is to follow it, to accept it, no matter where it leads him.

Henry Miller

Destiny is a good thing to accept when it’s going your way. When it isn’t, don’t call it destiny; call it injustice, treachery, or simple bad luck.

Joseph Heller
