Why do people learn musical instruments? For the fun of it? For the interest in it? Or as a serious career option? I know, we have our own answers for this. TED-Ed brings you a brilliant point in this video and you will know that playing a musical instrument is much more than what we thought. Anita Collins tells you how music can bring a positive change in your life.

“When you listen to music, multiple areas of your brain become engaged and active. But when you actually play an instrument, that activity becomes more like a full-body brain workout.”

Ever wondered about your brain’s workout? Honestly, that never came to my brain. A body workout is a must for most of us. We like to be fit and fine. But did you ever think how you could give a workout to your brain? After all, even brain gets out of shape sometimes and bringing it back to its regular shape requires some effort.

Researchers have found that listening to music can be a great health benefit and according to them here is how playing a musical instrument benefit.

  1. He is asking for the casio and guitar lessons … and my plight is I don’t A from B of music and there are so many ‘academies’ mushrooming around music asking 5000 -11,000 bucks for registration that I am not sure ..
    let see what happens .. will keep you informed though when he’ll start :)

  2. That’s great Kokila. It’s very good for kids. You can make a little more research on the internet, you will be surprised to know how well it help kids. I am happy my post made you rethink on that topic. I think its high time for me too. To dust the guitar lying in the corner of my room from months and join for guitar classes.

  3. Whatever benefits it holds I am never going to ever be able to play a musical instrument :P Just not into them :D Quite happy with listening to music ^_^ But hey loved to know that a brain workout would get us so many benefits !

  4. I can’t play any musical instrument…. but I like to listen..a lot..I can spend a day listening to music, it’s such a bliss ! No doubt people who play such instruments or sing soothing songs have all these qualities you’ve mentioned…. :-)
