5 things to learn from Messi!

I have always been a cricket fan, but if there is one person who has made me fall in love with Football, I owe it all to Messi! Naturally we were very curious to know more about him and here is where the research led us to 5 gems from the golden feet for the game!

1) Follow your dreams:

Messi says “You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.” Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency, he served tea at a shop to support his football training. We crib about our inconvenience, discomforts and we have our reasons for not being able to follow our dreams but the desire of achieving the dreams should be stronger than our stronger excuse.

2) Passion takes you a long way:

What would you do if it was not only for money? Well I am sure we have our answers. Most often we tend to associate our achievements with the money we make.
Messi says “Money is not a motivating factor. Money doesn’t thrill me or make me play better because there are benefits to being wealthy. I’m just happy with a ball at my feet. My motivation comes from playing the game I love. If I wasn’t paid to be a professional footballer I would willingly play for nothing.

3) Focus on the ball and ball alone :

When you are in the stadium with those thousands of eyes glaring on you, people shouting your name, cursing and praising you, rooting for you, those lights which look right in the eye, the cameras which keep flashing. All you got to remember is why you are there. The rest of it is just noise and the focus is the ball and ball alone!
“I don’t need the best hairstyle or the best body, just give me a ball at the feet and i’ll show you what I can do”

4) Everything in life comes at a cost – Hard Work :

The most important element of any successful story is hard work. “I start early and I stay late, day after day, year after year. It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success” – Messi. Nothing comes to you unless you go out, work hard and get it. It takes a constant effort with dedication to accomplish what we want in life.

5) Work and Joy are not two separate things :

Messi says “I have fun like a child in the street. When the day comes when I’m not enjoying it, I will leave football.” Enjoying what you do keeps you positive and that is a strong motivator for you accomplish our dreams. The journey towards success is beautiful. Ask successful people what they liked the most and most of them say it’s the journey which shaped them.
