Roger Federer Quotes : Play With The Pain And More..
A lot has been talked about Wimbledon this year, the game of tennis, the winners and the losers and the ones who make the matches worth their money and sheer entertainment through and through.
Federer to me remains one such personality who can keep inspiring. The man who holds the most records among male players for most titles, the record holder for most titles in a wimbledon, US open and Australian Open and dubbed as one of the greatest players that the game has ever seen.
I was reading a little about Federer when I came across these beautiful Federer quotes.
Quotes by Roger Federer
Quote 1 :
What I think I’ve been able to do well over the years is play with pain, play with problems, play in all sorts of conditions.
What is a game without any hits, pains, injuries, disappointments, dejections, irritations, imitations and a lot more. But the beauty of the game is that it goes on and keeps going on.
None of these emotions are ever going to stop, no matter how big anyone is, it is going to pull them down, it is going to bring them back to their knees but it is also going to give you the opportunity to strive no matter what happens.
That perhaps defines winning, a far more consistent proof!
There is a certain beauty in a fight, you got to give it all you got – As Mark Twain says – ‘The Size of Fight Matters’
Quote 2 :
I’m a very positive thinker, and I think that is what helps me the most in difficult moments.
You got to believe that you can win, no matter what is going on in the game, no matter how bad it looks, no matter how annoying it feels and no matter how strongly your rationale says that you are going to lose.
The verdict of the game sometimes must and does take a secondary role, it is about how you fight this game. So, if your question is whether you are an optimist or pessimist or even a realist, then perhaps the answer is beyond that!
Quote 3 :
When you do something best in life, you don’t really want to give that up- and for me it’s tennis.
What is it that you are really good in life? We all have a specialization, we are all really good at something and most times we do know it.
The question is, do we do it and if we do how often do we do it, how passionate we are about it, what sacrifices are we willing to make for it, does it become every fibre of our definition, does it mean everything us?
Well if it does, I guess you have defined the purpose of your life.
Quote 4 :
There is no way around the hard work. Embrace it.
Well it is not easy to like hard work, it is going to make you suffer, it is going to make you struggle, it is going to put you through pain, you get to see your peers party while you toil hard, there is no way around it.
There is pain in the process but there is also glory. It reminds me of a thought which says – Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional.
If you are putting in that much of hard work, going through that much of pain, then why not enjoy it? You can atleast get your money’s worth on it!
Quote 5 :
I like playing guys who have beaten me early in my career, [to] try to get back at them. I think it will be interesting to see how both of us have improved.
What do you do when you lose?
Do you think it is over and move out, do you feel like looking into their eyes again, do you feel like running away from the failure?
Well all those thoughts are very valid but what we do is what counts.
You can feel as bad as you want about your failures in life but the only way around them is through them, you got to beat the failures right at the source or you can choose to sit down and feel bad..
The choice ultimately is all yours!
